The Victory Neighborhood Association has vacancies for four positions on its board of directors. The positions will be filled during a special election on December 12. Two terms expire in September of 2019 and two terms expires in September of 2020. All positions are eligible for reelection at those times.
ViNA seeks to fill the vacancies with diverse leadership. Neighborhood residents are the most powerful force against injustice in our community and it is critically important for our neighborhood organization to represent all of our stakeholders. We strongly encourage renters, business owners, and homeowners of color to apply for a seat on our board of directors.
Board directors are responsible for the governance of ViNA to ensure that its resources, services, and activities align with neighbors’ needs and wants. Directors volunteer approximately ten hours per month and are required to join one of ViNA’s four subcommittees. Attendance of directors is required at:
- Board meetings (the first Wednesday evening of each month)
- Neighborhood meetings (eight times annually on the fourth Wednesday evening of the month)
- Their chosen subcommittee activities and meetings (a current schedule can be found here)
Participating on ViNA’s board is a great introduction to local government and elected office, and gives directors the opportunity to get to know our community and the issues that impact us in a very intimate way. Interested parties are eligible to run if they are 18 or over and live in, own property in, or own a business in Victory.
