History
The Victory Neighborhood is named for the historic three-mile Victory Memorial Parkway which runs through the community. ‘The Drive’ was dedicated in 1921 as a memorial to the Hennepin County service members who died in World War I. Each casualty is recognized with a tree planted in their honor and a marker noting their service. Additional monuments can be found along the parkway which was designated as a historic district by the Minnesota State Legislature in 2005. The parkway is the largest outdoor World War I memorial in the US.
The Victory Neighborhood is located in North Minneapolis, in the Camden Community on the northwest corner and is home to approximately 4,500 residents who live in the neighborhood’s classic homes.
