National Night Out (NNO) Resources

Tuesday, August 5, 2025

Deadline to register: July 29, 2025

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer and more welcoming. The Shingle Creek Victory Council (SCVC, formerly Victory Neighborhood Association and Shingle Creek Association) do not manage these events. SCVC helps point block leaders and community members to the resources they need to learn more and host their own neighborhood event.

National Night Out (NNO) takes place every year on the first Tuesday in August. Events are held in neighborhoods across the city. Every year, thousands of residents take part in the festivities. The City of Minneapolis' goal this year is to increase participation.

Holding an NNO gathering gives you and your neighbors:

  • A reason to have a social gathering with your neighbors
  • A chance to get to know each other and your local police officers
  • Time to build important relationships that keep your neighborhood safe

Each neighborhood plans its own event. Examples include:

  • Block parties
  • Cookouts
  • Youth activities
  • Public information events
